Post 3 in our Planning a Cake Smash Session is all about the cake! We have been fortunate enough to work with some amazing bakers and cake decorators! Having a great cake can either make or break your cake smash session. We’ve compiled some of our favorite cakes from our current Cake Vendor and some tips on prepping for your cake smash! Picking your colors or theme was covered in our First Post. So by now you have your theme or colors picked and you need to narrow down your backdrop set up design or let me handle that. Cake choice goes hand in hand with your entire set up. It’s important to pick a cake that will stand out but will still match your set up. There is a huge variety of options and these examples are just that, examples!

We use Temptation Cupcake in Logan for our Cakes! We have LOVED working with them and they have been so creative and met all of our requests as well as our client requests. If you choose to do your own cake or do the Mini Session you can provide your cake from wherever you want. We’ve had clients make their own and turn out fabulous! Just keep in mind – If your cake falls apart before your ready for it then there is no cake smash because it’s already smashed! That’s why we trust Temptation Cupcake!

When we order the cake we use one standard size, pictured below. But you can do nearly any frosting design you want!

In Studio First Year Packages are the best but we love outdoor sessions too!! Much as we try to use the studio, outdoor sessions can be super awesome as well! Watch your little one grow during their first year and let us help. Because this package is perfect for that! Sessions at 6, 9 and 12 months make for the best first year memories ever. I adore getting to see all my clients during these ages. Therefore, these ages are just the best! Cake Smash sessions at their 1 year appointments are usually my favorite!
