Yes, it’s Tuesday again!
Of all the places I’ve traveled in my 30 years of life, there are a handful of places I absolutely adore and and love. Moab is definitely one of them and it’s near the top of the list. If you’ve never been to Moab, I HIGHLY recommend it! A lot of people think they need a jeep to have any fun there and that’s completely not true, though it sure gives you a different adventure. Here are ten things about Moab and the surrounding area I wanted to share with you.
This park is AMAZING. I’ve been there at least 4 times and still haven’t seen everything.
This is a quick description from the Utah.com website on arches.
“Arches National Park contains the world’s largest concentration of natural stone arches. This National Park is a red, arid desert, punctuated with oddly eroded sandstone forms such as fins, pinnacles, spires, balanced rocks, and arches. The 73,000-acre region has over 2,000 of these “miracles of nature.”
The Fiery Furnace is one of Arches National Parks most prominent and sought after features. This area is not marked with a trail and is highly recommended to go with a park ranger on a tour, though they do let individuals purchase permits to hike on their down. Last fall I was lucky enough to get to go hike through this area with my best friends Andy and Megan. We didn’t have as much time as we wanted and only got to see part of the furnace, but we did find 5 arches while we were in there. It was beautiful and amazing.
Another breathtaking area Moab is known for. I’ve been through this park a few times but need to spend much more time there. It is much like Arches but with a wide variety of scenery and options. Well worth the drive into the park.
This arch is found in Arches National Park. It is a little bit of a hike to get to but it is amazing in size and structure. In the picture below you can see Megan and I standing a ways away from it. It’s massive. The two pictures below are the same picture, I just removed the shadows on the right side to show how busy and popular this place it. Especially at sun set, which is when we were there. It’s worth the hike. Take some water. Then relax when you get there!
5. Food and Lodging
While Moab is actually a pretty small town it has some great options for food and lodging. Our favorite thing to do is pack up the jeep and just go find somewhere to camp. But if that isn’t your cup of tea there are plenty of hotels around the area! Moab has some awesome restaurants. A few of my favorites are: Zax, Moab Diner, and Pasta Jays.

6. Jeeping Meca
Moab is well known for it’s jeeping and off roading trials. In all honesty it is a jeeping meca, and I love it! The following few numbers are some of my favorite trails.
7. Poison Spider Mesa, Golden Spike and Gold Bar Rim
This is a super fun trail with great views. We do all three trails together.
8. Hells Revenge
All slick rock and all fun!
9. Kane Creek Trail
This trail is not your most common trail. It has many water crossings but was super fun. It made for a full days run and the last hill out was quite a hike. (No pictures as we did that one in the dark).
10. Primitive Trail
Another option in Arches National Park is this Primitive Trail. It’s a pretty good hike and the trails aren’t marked, but it’s beautiful!
