Hard Rock Riviera Maya Mexico Trip

In January, we took a week off and headed to Mexico as a family! We had been planning this trip for 2-1/2 years! We were initially scheduled to leave March 2020, yup just weeks after the official beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic. After 3 reschedules, and tears, we finally were able to travel in January 2022. It was a fantastic trip! Hard Rock Riviera Maya Mexico Trip

Andy and I bought time share through the Hard Rock hotels back in 2015 so this was one of our time share weeks. We had rescheduled 3 times! It was a long process and lots of back and forth emails, phone calls, and extra money to make this work. But it was well worth it.

We headed to Riviera Maya and the direct flights to Cancun were awesome. Kip, Karson and Kira all did really well. Kip had flown once before but this was Karson’s first trip! Overall, traveling there went smooth and we were glad to finally be in our hotel room.

The Resort

The Hard Rock Riviera Maya was an amazing resort. We’d been there once before but they’d made some upgrades and changes that were fun. They have two sections, one is called Heaven and it’s for adults only, while the other is a family side called Hacienda. There are 9 restaurants between the two sides and we got to go to most of them, except those that were adults only.

We hung out by the pool, beach and hotel the entire trip. Last time we went, Andy and I went out and explored and it was a blast. With the kids, we thought it’d be more relaxing to just hang out and not worry about leaving. (Plus the Pandemic added to that). So that’s what we did. Hotel, Pool, Splash pad, Beach, Ocean and the fun Water Park Rockaway Bay. It was a good mix and fun experience.

Plus, the food was fantastic! We got to sip Margaritas, Rum and Coke and Mojitos every day and eat a variety of foods. The kids loved the Strawberry Daiquiris and fries. We loved the street tacos too! The hibachi grill was a fun dinner restaurant and we even went to a Mexican Show! They also had a fire show out by the pool one night that was so cool.

Overall, it was a relaxing and fun family trip. I got a good tan, Andy stayed unplugged all week and didn’t even turn his phone on and the kids couldn’t get enough of the water.
