My Biggest Life Goals

Are you a goal setter? I used to be so into setting goals and over time I’ve slacked off on goals. However, I never stop thinking about goals. Sometimes they are personal goals or business goals, etc. But my goals are always apart of my future… they have to be in order to strive to succeed. Since having our son this past summer, my realization of what my personal goals are have hit me. Hit me hard.  What do I want in life? What goals do I want to set? So here I am posting my goals and objectives to my photography blog. Making this public so you can see and so I have a reason to be accountable to my goals. My Biggest Life Goals

Update 2020 – I started writing this post when I was on maternity leave with Kip the summer of 2018. That was 18 months ago. I’m not sure why I never published this post but it’s time to get this out there and on my blog. Confirmed for myself. Some of these have been updated so they are current as of the posting date but some haven’t changed since I wrote them. So here you go, My Biggest Life Goals

My Goals
  1. To be a Mom – You’re thinking I’m already a mom, right? You are correct. My entire life one of my goals was to be a mom. When the realization that I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility hit me a few years ago this hurt. Being a mom has been and always will be a huge part of my desires. I’m sure many females have the desire to be a mom as well. And it pains me to know that there is a good percentage of ladies out there that are going to be in the same boat I was. We got lucky on our third round of IVF and finally had a successful pregnancy. But this stays as my goal, always. To remind me to be present, and to be a good mom. Reminding me how hard we worked to get here. And to keep awareness that not everyone is as lucky as I am.
  2. Travel – I have always loved to travel. I got lucky with Andy and we have that in common. A goal of mine in life is to travel and travel often. I know that’s hard to quantify but sometimes that Travel may change depending on our jobs, money, time, etc. So to leave this goal a little broad is ok by me. I just want to travel. Explore the world. Here are some of my top places to visit: Ireland, Australia, Tahiti,  Europe, Italy, Redwoods California and many many more.  We have checked off a few places on my list: Costa Rica, Hawaii, Banff Canada, Alaska, Lake Powell, Moab, New Orleans,  and New York New York just to name a few! Nashville was not on this list originally but Now it’s on my list to go back to!
  3. Pay Cash – A goal of mine is to be able to buy a car (or something similar) and be able to pay CASH. How satisfying would that be to hand over a personal check or cash and know there is enough money there to cover a car. No loan and no financial obligations for 3 to 6 years. Ah, that would be bliss.
  4.  Build a House – Not a difficult task by any means but we don’t want to build just any house. We want to build OUR house. We bought a lot in Hyrum a year ago and are in love with our property. We’ve been working on house plans since about June 2019 and are narrowing in on a final layout and then on to the details. We may be pushed off to build a few years due to costs and cash, hello building is expensive, but we will one day build our dream home.
  5. Read – A recent addiction and love of mine is to read. Andy got me intrigued with reading (or listening) on audible and I mostly just read leadership, business and self care books on there. I always loved having a hard copy book to hold in my hands when reading a novel. I’m Not sure what changed but recently I’ve been reading novels on Audible and I LOVE IT. I’m on Book #7 this week alone. So my goal is to read 10 books a year. That’s not a hard goal, but life gets busy and that gives me a chance to succeed every year. Previous to this year (which it’s January) I’ve only read a handful of books in a year so this is a stretch on some years and easy this year.
  6. Give Back – I always want to be able to give back to organizations that I am able to. Whether that is money or time or something else, giving back to a greater purpose has always been a top priority of mine.
  7. Get out of Debit. I would love to be out of debit except for a house payment. Andy and I are getting closer and closer to this concept after reading Dave Ramsy’s book. It’s a priority for us and I am glad we both agree.
  8. Be Passionate – I know that’s a random and weird goal. But I want to always be passionate about something I love. Whether that’s with my marriage or this business or something else I don’t want to loose my passion in life.
  9. Be Nice, Be a Leader – Easy one right? I want to be that person that talks to everyone and says hi to everyone just to be nice. I want to be the enjoyable lady that people love to see come in their business or store or at work. It’s not easy and I’ll have to work on this but that’s what makes it a great goal.
  10. Take Care of Myself – A great goal. Sometimes in life we all get busy and take care of our kids or husbands and forget to take care of ourselves. I’ve already seen myself do this more than once. It’s going to be an ongoing goal that I will have to work at but I am worth it.
