The Tuesday Ten, Things to do in Logan Utah this Summer! | Cache Valley Photographer

It’s Summer Time! Wahoo. Doesn’t everyone love summer? I sure do. I’ve come up with my favorite things to do this summer as well as added a few cool things that I’ve heard about in Logan Utah.
  1. Go Boating! We love boating. It’s seriously one of my favorite things to do in the summer and has been since I was about 7 yrs old. My parents had a boat and we always went out boating as a family. I learned to water ski at a young age and fell in love with the lake. Now I love wake boarding but no matter what you head to the lake for it’s sure to be a great time.
  2. Splash Pad. Yup, another water one. It’s usually hot out in the summer so I have a lot of favorites that have to deal with water fun. There are at least three fun splash pads in Logan that I know of. I highly recommend you go visit one least once this summer. Check out the one in Providence, Alma Leonhard Park. Here are the details: 310 West 250 North Providence, Open Daily, Splash Pad water feature is available from 10 Am to 8 PM. It’s FREE!
  3. We Play Unplugged. This is a new one to me. I was told about this by my boyfriends sister and then saw a couple of posts on Facebook about it. It’s a great idea and I’m happy to share it with you. Go to the We Play Unplugged Cache Valley website here. Your kids can earn badges by doing different activities all summer long. Instructions for each badge are listed on their website. Boating and the Splash pad are listed as activities as well as biking, side walk chalk, fishing, star gazing and more! Get out and be active with your kids.
  4. Hiking. I love hiking. Logan and Cache Valley are FULL of hikes that range from short and easy to hard and long. Go-Utah has a list of hikes and information about each one. I don’t think it has them all but it’s a great starting point. Two of my favorite hikes are the Wind Caves in Logan Canyon and the 7 mile one way hike from Willow Flats to Bloomington Lake. We did that one there and back one day a few years ago and it was awesome.
  5. Willow Park Zoo. This Zoo has been around for a long time. I remember going there as a kid over 20 years ago. The Willow Park Zoo is centrally located on the west side of Logan right by the Fair Grounds, Parks, and the Baseball fields. We used to have our Family Reunions at the grassy area of the Park/Zoo. Easy to get to, low key, and kids love the animals.
  6. Jeep Drive. One of my FAVORITES to do in the summer in Cache Valley is going for a jeep ride. Now if you don’t have a jeep that DOES NOT keep you away from fun activities like this. I love taking a drive up to Bear Lake. We’ll grab a shake and come home. Logan Canyon is a beautiful area to drive through and it’s pretty relaxing. If you have 4 wheel drive or a vehicle you can take in Providence or Millville canyon then head up to Mount Logan Peak. We also love driving through Black Smith Fork Canyon. The options are nearly endless. Jump in the car and just head out.
  7. Old Ephraims Grave. Ever heard of the last known Grizzly Bear in Utah named Old Ephraim? If not you need to check this out! This goes with the Jeep Drive but you can also get there by bike or other methods. The trail can be found by going through Right Hand Fork via Logan Canyon or Left Hand Fork in Black Smith Fork Canyon. More info on the grave is found here
  8. Summer Fest. Being a Logan Utah Photographer I have a hard time staying away from fun events that showcase other photographers work. This event is sure to do just that but lots more. It’s called Summer Fest Arts Faire. It just happens to be this coming weekend starting on Thursday June 12 and running through Saturday June 14th. The event is on the Tabernacle grounds in downtown Logan. There are a wide array of booths, activities and food. If you haven’t been, check it out. If you have, I hope you enjoy this years event as well!
  9. Plant a Garden. If you recall on the last Tuesday Ten post I said I loved flowers and gardening. What better thing to keep you busy ALL SUMMER LONG than to have a flower, garden or both to take care of. This is a fun way to get kids involved in helping around the yard as well as teaching them some new skills. Seeing something grow is super fun! Flowers are beautiful and a garden gives you a reward with delicious food for your meals.
  10. Camping. I quite enjoy a fun weekend of camping. Even if we go camping for just one night or make a full weekend or extended trip out of it, Camping is fun. Roasting marshmallows, sitting around the fire, kicking back and relaxing away from our every day life. Ahh, I can feel it now. Grab your gear and head up the mountains for a camping adventure. Like most things for outdoor activities, Logan and Cache Valley are full of opportunities! Check out some camping areas listed here.
Well that’s it for my 10 Suggestions to do this summer. Hope you all have a great summer planned or just kick back and relax. I’ll be doing a little of both!
