Sunshine, smiles, and a little bit of cake chaos! ☀️🎂
This sweet boy brought all the joy (and plenty of balloons!) to his big one-year cake smash session. His cheerful sunshine theme fit him perfectly — full of personality, laughter, and curiosity. From the soft yellow tones to the happy sun backdrop, every detail radiated warmth and happiness. Because of that, this session easily became one of my favorites!
It’s amazing how fast time flies. I’ve had the privilege of photographing this little guy since he was just a few months old. He’s one of my First Year Kids, which means I’ve seen him grow through every stage — 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and now, the big ONE! Each milestone brought new smiles, new curiosity, and new energy. Watching babies grow and change through that first year is always incredible, and it’s one of the reasons I adore being a cake smash photographer in Logan, Utah.
Session Details
For this session, Mom came with a clear vision in mind, and I loved how it turned out! She wanted a bright sunshine theme, and everything came together perfectly — from the golden backdrop to the soft yellow balloons and sweet little cake topper. Moreover, the cake itself was absolutely adorable. Temptation Cupcake in Logan created the perfect ombré yellow cake that not only looked amazing but tasted just as good (according to the little cake tester himself!).
As soon as we started, this birthday boy lit up the entire room. At first, he was curious and cautious, gently poking at the frosting. Soon after, he was full of giggles, exploring the texture and flavor with both hands. And of course, by the end, we had a joyful, frosting-covered mess — which, in my opinion, is exactly how every cake smash should end!
In addition to his cake smash, we also captured a few milestone portraits. His adorable blue and gray outfits popped perfectly against the soft cloud backdrops, creating a fun, timeless contrast to the sunny yellow cake setup. These photos show just how expressive and happy he is — and they’ll be such sweet keepsakes for his family to look back on.
Furthermore, I love sessions like this because they highlight what makes each child unique. Every baby reacts differently — some dive right in, while others take their time — and that’s what makes cake smash sessions so special. After all, these moments reflect their personalities in the most genuine, joyful way.
Looking back, it’s incredible to think that just a year ago, this little one was tiny enough to fit in his parents’ arms. Now, he’s exploring, laughing, and celebrating one amazing trip around the sun. 🌞
