Baby Boy Newborn Session | Logan Utah Newborn Photographer

There’s something so timeless about newborn photography—especially when we get to capture those tiny details during the first few weeks of life. This little guy’s session was full of sweet moments, classic setups, and calm, cozy vibes. We loved every second of it. Baby Boy Newborn Session | Logan Utah Newborn Photographer

As a Logan Utah newborn photographer, one thing we always focus on is variety. Every session is planned to showcase your baby in a few different ways—using a range of colors, textures, and props that still feel cohesive and natural. For this session, we kept things soft and simple, with a mix of neutrals and subtle colors that really brought out this baby boy’s adorable features.

Here’s a little breakdown of what we did and why:

1. Soft Blue and Cream Tones

We started with a cozy blue setup—perfect for a baby boy, but still muted enough to feel calm and classic. We paired this with cream knits and a simple wrap, letting his sweet little expressions take center stage. We love using softer tones like this because they keep the focus on baby while still adding warmth and depth to the images.

2. Brown and Earthy Neutrals

Next, we brought in rich browns and textures with a wooden bed and soft fur layers. These tones feel grounded and timeless and they always photograph beautifully. As a Cache Valley newborn photographer, I love incorporating earthy neutrals because they work so well across seasons—and they age well when you look back at your photos years down the road.

3. Basket Poses

We used one of our favorite round baskets for this session. It’s just the right size for newborns, offering enough support while also giving us creative posing options. Basket poses are great for showing off baby’s wrap, tiny toes, and peaceful expressions all in one shot.

4. Tiny Details

No newborn session is complete without close-ups of all the little things—tiny fingers, wispy hair, and curled-up toes. These detail shots often become favorites because they capture exactly what you want to remember when you look back at this stage.

What to Know About Newborn Photography Timing

If you’re reading this and wondering when newborn sessions typically happen—here’s a quick tip. Most photographers aim to photograph newborns within the first 5–14 days after birth. This little window is when babies are sleepiest and easiest to pose. However, older newborns (up to 3–4 weeks) can still be photographed beautifully—especially with more relaxed, wrapped setups like we used here.

Creating a Calm Studio Experience

We always aim for a calm, baby-led session. That means keeping the room warm, using white noise, and going slow so baby can stay comfortable. It’s not about rushing through poses—it’s about giving space for real moments to unfold, whether that’s a sleepy yawn or wide, curious eyes.

Every newborn brings something unique to the studio, and this little boy was no exception. His calm energy, tiny details, and soft expressions made for a peaceful, beautiful session. It’s always a joy to preserve this fleeting stage through simple, thoughtful photography.

If you’re a parent, family member, or just someone who loves newborns, we hope you enjoy following along with these sessions. They’re a reminder of how meaningful and beautiful these early days really are.
