There are sessions that feel extra special — and this one absolutely does! Photographing my nephew Jaden, his wife Megan, and their two adorable little ones was such a full-circle moment for me. I had the privilege of capturing their engagement and wedding photos years ago, and now, seeing their family grow with the arrival of their sweet baby girl truly warmed my heart. Newborn sessions are always filled with emotion — that tender mix of joy, love, and just a bit of new-parent exhaustion. Each pose, each yawn, and each tiny stretch tells a story. Because of that, I take my time to make sure every detail reflects the warmth and connection families feel in these first few weeks together.

Cream Fluffy Rug Pose

We started the session with a soft and timeless setup — the cream fluffy rug. This pose is simple, classic, and always a favorite because it highlights the pure innocence of newborn days. Wrapped in blush pink, she looked completely peaceful. The texture of the rug added depth and warmth, while her tiny features stood out beautifully. As always, I love how this pose captures both softness and simplicity in one image.

White Bucket Pose

Next, we moved to the white bucket pose — a studio favorite! This pose works beautifully for newborns because it provides both comfort and support while creating that picture-perfect, tucked-in look. The combination of blush and mint tones, paired with a delicate floral headband, added the sweetest pop of color. As she rested her tiny cheeks on her hands, she looked like she’d been practicing her poses since birth. It’s always amazing to see how babies naturally settle into these cozy setups.

Curved White Bench Pose

Afterward, we transitioned to the curved white bench setup. This pose offers a lovely blend of structure and calm, which is why it photographs so beautifully. The soft lavender wrap and matching bow brought a peaceful, elegant feel to the image. Because the tones paired perfectly with the light wood backdrop, the final look felt clean, balanced, and serene. It’s these small color details that make such a big difference in newborn photography.

White Round Bowl Pose

Then, we moved on to the white round bowl pose — one of the most timeless setups in my studio. I love using it because it’s simple yet visually stunning. The contrast between the white layers and soft pink wrap created a dreamy, pure look. With her little toes peeking out and a big bow framing her sweet face, this pose truly captured her gentle personality. In addition, the neutral tones make it a perfect piece for any nursery wall or family album.

Brother & Sister Pose

Once baby girl had her solo time, it was big brother’s turn to join in — and he did not disappoint! This sibling pose is always one of my favorites because it’s full of real emotion. He sat proudly beside her, gently touching her head and watching her sleep. It’s moments like this that show the beginning of a beautiful lifelong bond. As a photographer (and an aunt!), it’s incredibly rewarding to witness that instant connection between siblings.

Family Photos

Finally, we wrapped up the session with family portraits. These photos are always such a special way to end a newborn session because they capture the heart of what this journey is all about — family. Jaden and Megan’s soft gray tones paired perfectly with their casual denim and natural smiles. The result was effortless and genuine. You can truly feel the love and joy radiating from this sweet family of four.

As the session ended, I couldn’t help but reflect on how meaningful it is to document their milestones. From engagements to weddings to newborn sessions, being part of these chapters is something I’ll always cherish. Watching families grow — especially my own — through my lens is a gift I’ll never take for granted.

If you’re expecting and dreaming of timeless, soft, and love-filled newborn photos, it’s never too early to reach out. Because newborns change so quickly, sessions are best scheduled before baby arrives to ensure availability and to capture those perfect, sleepy poses during the first few weeks.

Our studio, located in Logan, Utah, (Technically in River Heights, Utah) is calm, cozy, and perfect for newborn photography. It’s fully equipped with controlled lighting, beautiful props, clean backdrops, and a warm, soothing atmosphere. Because we manage every detail, we’re able to create timeless images with soft tones and beautiful setups.

Additionally, working with an experienced Utah newborn photographer means your session is always personalized. You’ll have access to a wide variety of props, wraps, backdrops, and curated setups. While many clients come to our Logan Utah studio, we also offer in-home lifestyle sessions. However, in-home sessions include a travel fee and fewer props—but they provide a relaxed, natural feel.
